Teaching the MML Skills to couples is one of the most rewarding things you can do – you see the “lights go on” in the couples’ eyes as they realize the keypoints of empathic listening or how to express their thoughts and feelings effectively. And when they use the skills in their practice dialogues, you can see the walls of the heart melt and genuine and fulfilling conversation occur. It’s exciting to watch couples take a happy marriage to an even higher level, and to see a struggling couple find new hope in their relationship!
My encouragement to MML Facilitators is: Teach an MML Class! Teach a class in your church, or if you’re new to it and a little bit uncertain, then teach the skills to 1 or 2 couples whom you know. My first class was in the living room of a couple who are long-time friends of my wife and I – for several Thursday evenings we’d sit in their living room and go over the skills — I got the “teaching” practice and they learned the skills! It was a great combo — and guess what? That couple got so inspired with the skills that they became MML Facilitators themselves and have been teaching the skills to others the past 2 years!
So Take The Leap and Teach an MML Class — and then post your experience at this blog. We’d love to read about it!!
