NEW - Mastering the Mysteries of Stepfamilies
Stepfamily Couples! Learn to communicate respectfully, make agreements you can keep, and rediscover your love for one another!
Nancy Landrum, in collaboration with Mary Ortwein and IDEALS of Kentucky, has adapted their popular Mastering the Mysteries of Love curriculum for use with stepfamilies. In Mastering the Mysteries of Stepfamilies (MMS) you will find research validated communication and conflict resolution skills with the most up-to-date, recommended guidelines that help stepfamilies be successful.
A successful stepfamily is one in which the husband and wife are
committed to learning and using respectful communication skills with each other, their children and stepchildren. Their expectations are realistic. The marriage is strong and loving. Appropriate respect is given to the other living or deceased biological parents and extended family. The children feel safe, cared for and respected by the adults in their lives and their step-siblings.
Nancy came to this project having personally experienced the unique stresses of stepfamily life. In addition to being ignorant about the dynamics of stepfamilies, she and her husband were sadly lacking in good communication and conflict resolution skills. It was a recipe for disaster and, as often happens, conflicts began to dominate their relationship.
They eventually learned to use better communication and conflict resolution skills and adjusted their expectations to fit stepfamily realities, but the process was long and agonizing for them and their children. What took them several years to find, is now available in one power-packed program: Mastering the Mysteries of Stepfamilies. Classes include a variety of teaching methods, exercises and games with time to work out applications of the concepts to your unique family.
